Google is rolling out a new design for the desktop search page. Google announced this over Twitter.
Last year, our search results on mobile gained a new look. That’s now rolling out to desktop results this week, presenting site domain names and brand icons prominently, along with a bolded “Ad” label for ads. Here’s a mockup: pic.twitter.com/aM9UAbSKtv
As you are targeting to get visits from organic listing, it’s essential to have a favicon on your website so that it’ll appear on a search page of Google.
There are some guidelines by Google for a favicon next to your search results:
1 – Favicon and the home page must be crawlable (Don’t block Google bot)
2 – The icon should represent your brand
3 – Don’t change your favicon regularly
4 – Don’t add any hate symbol or pornography image.
